The printer
Explore the printer concept. The planned build volume is 1 × 1 × 1 metre, with a tool changer planned for printing, laser cutting, and CNC drilling.
Concept visualization, not finished CAD. The frame, electronics, and parts list are still being developed.
What we're building
We're figuring out the frame, checking part prices, and writing down the build steps as we go. The plans and guide will be open source.
Tool Changer
The idea is one machine with three tools:
- 3D Printer
- Laser Cutter
- CNC Drill
Cost & BOM
We're trying to keep the parts under $900 USD. That's a target, not a final total.
Build log
We started sketching the frame and working out how to fit a one-metre build volume into it. There's still plenty to solve.
The README draft is up and the GitHub repo is public. We're still checking prices and changing the parts list.
We have a few tool-mount sketches. Now we're working out which one will be easiest to build and change over.
Help pay for parts
This machine needs a lot of parts. Donations help us buy them; the plans and guide will stay free.
Donate in the HCB appPayPal handles its payments through encrypted checkout. HCB opens in a new tab.
Got an old printer?
If you're done with a printer, we'd like to reuse its working parts in a FERROWORKER build. Broken or incomplete machines are welcome too.
-
What we acceptFDM printers, extruders, hotends, stepper motors, rods, bearings, belts, and electronics. Broken or incomplete is fine.
-
What we cannot acceptResin vats, IPA-contaminated parts, or machines soaked in hazardous chemicals.
